Frequently Ask Questions

Pro Spirit Up-Skill Path is a technical training journey for sound engineering, cloud management and computing. Specifically designed for non-profits like churches, event planners, small sound hire companies and DJ's.

This training journey is designed by the systems engineer Gregory S.C Gordon and imitates his path from full beginner to volunteer, then the journey to sound technician, sound engineer, web developer, trainer, cloud manager and systems engineer. This training journey is split up into several Up-Skill Path courses so that each student can take the pathway that suits them best.

"Up-Skill" refers to training.
Pro Spirit is a technical support service and training or up-skill is a major part of its support.

"Path" refers directly to a training category and categories contain courses.

Why is it a journey?
"Journey" refers to ongoing training. The subscription is designed for continuous learning and equips the student for organisational changes, technology changes and talent management.

The local and regional market of online users was not big enough.

Our technical support and training started in 2005 as a way to transfer industry knowledge to non-profits (especially churches), event planners, sound hire companies and D.J's.

From 2005 - 2020 there was a need for 'refresher courses' or 'ongoing training' but not enough of the market migrating to online use. This changed during COVID-19 and we waited for persons to regulate their resources (get settled) before launching remote technical support and online training, Pro Spirit's Up-Skill Path.

At the end of January 2024 we began developing the service which is set for a soft launch March 1, 2024.

Yes, but you are exposed to content curation in an environment of misguidance, constant distractions, possible lack of coherence from content to content, a lack of practical application and in depth teaching. Just when you thought it was free, you pay in losses, via delays and misdirection.

If you have ever used a YouTube channel geared towards serious how-to's, you would notice that the content creator usually has a separate website setup for free and paid training resources. That is what Pro Spirit Up-Skill Path is, an online training resource seperated from social media.

Apart from our paid content, any free on-line training that we have, will be posted on one of our websites and not on social media, so as to keep the user focused.

Illustrated text costs less to create, update and deliver, as well as more clearly understood than audio on the video, if the speaker has an accent.
For every course and lesson, we use both illustrated text and video, with both having the same information. Although the videos seem popular, the illustrated text is geared towards the search and analytical behaviour of the user.

There are no prerequisites for Up-Skill Path entrance. The following is usaully a good primer for online technical learning

  • Computer literacy
  • Reasoning, problem solving
  • Secondary education or formal education up to 16 years old to include
    • English Language
    • Mathematics

Guidelines for preparation

  • Try to be well focused before, during and after every class to allow for maximised absorption of material. So be well rested, relaxed, fresh, not flustered and not distracted. This same demeanor is required when carrying out your technical tasks.
  • Try to avoid a space that is dark, busy or shared. A simple small space that everyone knows as your serious work space or do not disturb space is fine. If you can not find a dedicated space, then use the down-time of everyone else in that space.

Recommendations

  • Use screens bigger than a mobile phone, like desktop, laptop or big tablet (Ipad size). Only use a mobile phone if you have no other choice.

  • Use earbuds and not the speakers on the device to avoid any manageable noise from around your workspace mixing with the information you are listening to.
